History
Paper Street traces its humble beginnings to a small blog named “Societal Rants” which was established in 2005 by Alex Chong. Alex and a group of high school friends began to write about issues surrounding their lives, and the blog was maintained for well over a year.
However, the group soon began to outgrow their initial teenage rants, and their ideas matured as they grew older. While many still maintained a sense of dissatisfaction with society, a more mature point of view was adopted. Paper Street was founded in the summer of 2007 by Kevin Siu and Alex Chong in an effort to break clean from our rather inexperienced and somewhat “naive” past, while maintaining the same spirit of free thought and the presentation of enlightening ideas.
As a tribute to our earlier blog, we have imported some of the best posts from that era, which can be viewed in the Paper Street archives. We will also occasionally revisit some old ideas initially explored in Societal Rants and develop them further from new angles.
